A little congrats....
...to ME!!! And to my friend Abbie. (I always feel silly having to add "my friend" whenever I talk about Abbie, but I just have to clarify because really, my daugher Abby has nothing to do with this).
I'm sure all of you know that Abbie and I have a food storage blog, Safely Gathered In. Hopefully you all have our button on your blogs!!!!! (just kidding...sort of)
Anyway, Abbie and I recently wrote an article (a guest post) for a very popular blog called Money Saving Mom, and today (Tuesday) it was published! Money Saving Mom gets over 1 million hits a month, and we are already seeing the numbers on our own blog go up. A LOT. Another piece of exciting news is that we have been invited to guest post every month (or every other month) for the forseeable future. We are SO EXCITED! And, it won't be much extra work because most of the guest posts in the future will be posts that we've already written for our own blog.
Ok, enough gloating. I am just so excited. Abbie and I have put a lot of time and hard work into our blog, and we love that it is a success!

No animals were hurt in the writing of this post
Right now Garrett and I are watching "Red, Hot, & Green", an HGTV show about redesigning your home in eco-friendly ways - you know, making it "green" and stuff.
Well, they were just re-doing the shower in a bathroom, where they tore out some tiles and and replaced them with completely recycled, eco-friendly glass. Oooh, recycled glass, that's great (seriously). But... what does that even mean, eco-friendly? It's not going to emit toxic gas like the old tiles did (not)? I understand why "going green" can be cool, and I understand the importance of using recycled products etc., but it just seems kind of pointless to spend a lot of money (that most people probably don't have) to do these things, PLUS they are tearing out all their old fixtures and where does that stuff go?? Right now they are talking about how cool it is that they are using recycled materials for the new countertop, but where's the old countertop? Right, it went to the landfull. That seems a little backwards to me... am I missing something?
Anyway... we have a giveaway going on at my food storage blog... check it out! And thanks to everyone who has commented so far... we're very excited that so many people like our blog!

ANNOUNCEMENT!!
No, I'm not pregnant. My friend Abbie and I have started a new blog! We are really excited about it, and we hope that people find it beneficial. It's a food storage and emergency preparedness blog. Prophets have been telling us for years that we need to build up a supply of food storage and we need to be prepared for emergencies, and I don't know about you, but I struggle a lot with that. Like most people, I'm on a tight budget, and my house is small so it's hard for me to even know where to keep all that food. Plus, I just don't know HOW TO DO IT! Where do I start? How much food do I really need? How long can canned food be stored? And what in the world can I make using all that wheat? All these unanswered questions have kept me from getting started. And that's about to change!
Anyway, today is our "launch" day - our first official post is up, and it explains our whole plan. I really hope that the work we put into this project will benefit as many people as possible. We want to be a reliable resource for everyone who visits. And even if you are totally prepared and you don't need the blog, I'm sure you know people who, like me, just don't know where to start. Tell them to start at our blog! We're learning too, and it should be a lot of fun.
