Still alive....

No good excuse for being away so long!  Just lazy I guess.... but here we go-

Here's what we have been up to lately! (My instagram update.... with some more words than usual to make up for my lack of blogging)-

Breakfast.  I have one of these every day that I have fresh spinach (I buy the big box of organic spinach from Sam's Club).  It's ice, half a banana, low fat vanilla almond milk, sometimes 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter, and two handfuls of spinach.  Or, instead of a banana and ice, I add about a cup of frozen fruit (I buy the huge bag from Walmart)

The girls got an Angelina Ballerina game for Christmas.  There are about 2 dozen cards with different ballet positions/moves on them.  Abby lays them all out on the floor and does them all for me in a dance sequence.  She's getting pretty good!

Still getting to bed too late.... but I've gotten better ever since Garrett had to start leaving for work around 6:45 every day.  He tries to go to bed around 10:30 now, so I do the same.

She likes to dress herself..........

Checking the mail.... our neighborhood has these mailboxes every quarter mile or so, instead of mailboxes in front of every house.  Didn't even notice until after we bought the house.  Kind of strange but typical in the neighborhoods around here.

Things are going great.  We are staying really busy, and trying to soak in all this glorious weather until it gets too hot to be outside (hopefully we have a few more months).

I've been going running 3-4 times a week with a friend of mine.  We probably look like quite the group as we run down the street with two double strollers, and sometimes one or two kids ahead of us on bikes.  I really hate running with a double stroller, but it's great for my running time.  I went running alone a couple Saturdays ago (no stroller) and my first mile was 60 seconds faster than my old time used to be (back when I was running before without a stroller).  So that was pretty exciting.

In other fun news, we're heading to Savannah in a couple weeks, but not to stay.  We're dropping the kids off, then heading to the Gulf coast with some of our best friends for a long weekend!  Definitely looking forward to some kid-free fun, like laying out on the beach and reading a book and taking a nap.  And hopefully eating lots of sushi and other delicious food.

Garrett just finished a brutal rotation last month.... so thankful that's over!  He was on call for the entire last week, meaning that when he was done with his normal 7am-5pm hours, he was on call from 5pm until 7am. Potentially, he could have worked all night if they called him in, then worked a normal full day and then been on call another full night (possibly working all night again).  And over and over again, for 7 days.  He was pretty nervous about it.  Thankfully, he got really lucky.  He got called in all day Saturday and Sunday, but only had to work until 1 or 2 am twice during the week, so he still got enough sleep to function during his normal daytime hours.  I'm so thankful that week's over, but he's already dreading when he has to do it again in June.  Oh, and he was also exposed to radiation all day every day.  Not much fun.

Can't complain, though.  Life is great and things are going just fine.  And like I said earlier, we are keeping very busy... we started our garden, I am working on my first re-upholstery project (will share pics when it's done), and the girls and I have discovered a lot of new local parks lately.  Oh, and my sister-in-law is about to have TWINS so I am waiting (im)patiently for them to arrive!  Can't wait to see pictures of those little cuties.

Hope you all are doing great!

Life

Life has been great lately.  Have I mentioned recently how much I'm loving this weather?  I do love it.

So what have we been doing?

Raking leaves... it's Fall here.

Playing with fireworks... this is from New Year's Eve.  Ellie was so funny... she just stood far away plugging her ears because she really didn't like all the noise.  Then, after they were done, she'd run to me or Garrett and try to talk to us, and we would talk back to her but she refused to take her fingers out of her ears.  So she just kept saying, "Parn Mom?  Mom, parn?" (parn = pardon).  She couldn't figure out why she couldn't hear us!

Kids eating fondue later that night.

At our favorite park, the "Spin Park".  This round thing spins around and the girls love riding it.

Rob & Haley stopped by for about an hour a few Sundays ago.  They just happened to be driving across the panhandle and came an hour out of their way to drop in... it was SO FUN and we're so glad they came. Clearly, the girls were happy too.

Garrett and a bunch of friends playing volleyball on MLK day (he had the day off).  Ellie playing with cookies.

Playing outside.

Abby loves taking pictures of her dolls.  This is a little Alice in Wonderland doll that Garrett's grandma gave to her for Christmas this year.  It's so cute - it's all cloth, and she came with three different costumes: the Alice in Wonderland outfit, the Queen of Hearts costume (with tights and a black wig, not shown), and a full-on rabbit costume, complete with bunny ears and everything.  Lots of fun.

The park with friends.

I can't believe I have a kid old enough to do tricks that give me heart attacks.  I used to go crazy on these bars (spinning around over and over and over again).  Now all I can think of is her falling and breaking her neck!  Stresses me out. :)

We play a few games of Candy Land every night after dinner.  Some of us are working on becoming better losers..... this picture was taken a few weeks ago.  She's gotten a lot better since then, thankfully.

Ready for Church.... I made them lose the hats though, much to their dismay.

Shopping.

More Candy Land... this time we roped our friends into playing with us.

Sam's Club... man, I hate those carts!  But they keep the kids happy, so what can you do.

81 degrees!

Riding in the car.. that's her doll, "Lilly"

Going.... going........ gone.

We were so busy this past week, I had to run a lot of errands in the afternoon so Ellie missed out on some naps.  She tried to make up for it, though.

I'll post more pictures of Abby's birthday soon.  Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!!
